National History

The Alpha Chapter of Theta Tau was founded on October 15th, 1904 at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Founding Fathers were Erich J, Schrader, William M. Lewis, Isaac B. Hanks, and Elwin L. Vinal.

Theta Tau Magazine

The “Gear of Theta Tau,” Theta Tau’s official magazine, was originally published by the Beta Chapter in 1908 under the name “Hammer and Tongs.” It carries a lifetime subscription and is issued semi-annually.

Membership requirements

 At the time of initiation, a prospective student member must be at least eighteen years of age, eligible to pledge according to university rules, and enrolled in an engineering curriculum.
